Friendship dues
Hearing loss is a lifetime diagnosis. You'll need help with it for as long as you live. Friendship dues are how we make sure you have it.
For as long as you're a patient. That's the whole price of our ongoing care.
How it works
Most hearing clinics make their money selling hearing aids. That's why the visit so often ends in a sales pitch: the clinic only gets paid when you buy.
We do it differently. You pay $33 a month in friendship dues so I can take care of your hearing loss and keep your hearing aids working. That's what pays the bills here. Hearing aid sales don't.
Why I'll never pressure you
Because I don't need to. When, or if, the time comes that you're ready for new hearing aids, you pay theinvoice price, exactly what the manufacturer charges me, plus a $250 fitting feefor my time. No markup. I earn the same whether you upgrade this year, in five years, or never. Your dues stay $33 a month, for a second pair, a third, and every one after.
What your dues cover
- Office visits, as many as you need
- Hearing exams
- Cleanings
- Earwax removal
- Real-ear measurement (REM): a test with a tiny microphone in your ear canal that confirms your hearing aids deliver exactly the sound your prescription calls for
- Repairs and replacement parts while your hearing aids are under warranty
What they don't cover
- Repairs after the warranty ends: $250 per hearing aid.
- Loss and damage after the warranty ends. The good news: if you need to replace a lost or broken hearing aid, you pay only the invoice price, and we waive the fitting fee.
Already have hearing aids?
You're welcome here, wherever you bought them: Costco, online, or another clinic. There's a one-time $250 fitting fee, because in most cases I'll need to retest your hearing, refit, and reprogram your hearing aids and verify them with REM. After that, it's $33 a month like everyone else.
Using insurance?
We accept insurance. You can still join friendship dues. Insurance patients pay them once a year ($396 a year) instead of monthly. If you'd rather not, we follow the terms of your insurance plan, such as a $65 copay with TruHearing.
If you stop paying
No hard feelings, and no contract. Here's what changes:
- Appointments are $125 per visit.
- New hearing aids are sold at our standard price, not invoice plus the fitting fee.
- You can rejoin any time. To keep the upgrade pathway (invoice plus $250), you pay the dues you missed.
